Captain Tom Moore, the 100-year-old war veteran who raised over $40 million of the United Kingdom's National Health Service charities by walking back and forth in his yard, is set to be knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on Friday.

The statement from the palace read:

"The Queen will confer the Honour of Knighthood on Captain Sir Thomas Moore at an Investiture at Windsor Castle.
"Captain Sir Thomas Moore will be accompanied by members of his family."

The queen will use the sword that was left to her by her father, King George VI and will bestow the title of Knight Bachelor on Captain Moore. It will also be the first time the 93-year-old queen will resume face-to-face duties in light of the pandemic.

Captain Moore had originally set out to raise £1,000 for NHS charities during the pandemic by doing 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday. The initiative exploded in popularity, though, and Captain Moore's total fundraising now sits at $41 million.
