As if dealing with a broken heart isn’t bad enough when a relationship ends, you still have to let everyone in your life know things are over. But instead of having to retell that sad news over and over to friends, family and anyone else you think needs to know, one woman came up with a new way to get the information out there. When she split with her partner of six years, Diana Martinez created a breakup announcement flier and sent it in a group chat with her closest friends.

“Attention: We broke up,” the flier reads. “Yes, it was his fault. No, we are never ever ever getting back together … I require two to three weeks for any further questions. You don’t have to block him. I’m indifferent.”

Martinez says she knew it was time to tell her besties, but she wasn’t ready to do the “explaining,” and she “thought it would be funny to make a graphic with the basic information to let everyone know it happened, almost like a press release.” She explains that the announcement gave her the “chance to process without having to relive the heartbreak” and that it was the best thing she could’ve done for her mental health.
