There’s been a run on the $1.99 “Gummy Mango” candy, notable for its unique peelable design that resembles a tiny mango, after it was featured in a viral TikTok video that racked up millions of views. The unexpectedly popular product comes at the perfect time for Walgreens, which has been facing challenges including competitive pressure and operational issues in its stores. The retail chain says it didn’t work with paid influencers to promote the product, the gummies just happened to come along at a time when Gen Z and millennial consumers are nostalgic for candies from their childhoods.
