I know people can be cruel. But Yesterday was awful. I was with my friend Maria, we were running some errands. This story has alot more to it, but let me get to the CORE of the novel. The location was the Temple Target shopping center. The estimated time was 2:15pm. As we drove by the entrance of Target, there stood a young boy, his mother, and the security guard. They looked distraught, and confused. We didnt pay attention until we saw them kneeling down by the landscape aside of the store. That's when Maria suddenly STOPS the vehicle and says, "they need help" she put the car in park, got out, got the details and came running back, she said they need our help. I said "ok"
I had no idea what I was about to see. A momma duck and four newborn ducklings. Only one of them was breathing faintly with his little tiny neck hanging there. We came to learn some jackass had tried to steal it from the mother duck, put it in a bag and board a bus with it, when he attempted to get on the bus, he THREW the bag with the baby duck in it onto the ground. WHO the Duck does this???
The security guard came out and handed me surgical gloves to put the little babies in a box while momma duck was scared and flew away, Maria chased her, in the rain, in the parking lot, stopping traffic many times determined to get this family back together.
After two hours momma duck never came back, the original young boy and his mom took the babies to a friends farm where they will be cared for, I know the smallest and injured duckling didnt make it, but he was in the company of his brothers and sisters.
This world is full of cruel people. Maybe they were never loved, or dont know how to love. It is sad how people don't have a heart. Thank you to the young man who ran to get his mom and grandmom and tell them what happened. Dont change. Stay true to yourself.
To the person that did this.....one word. Karma. You will be found.
