Going to bed with your heavy duty PJ's?  Well tonight you might want to ditch those and sleep in your birthday suit!  There is even some science to back this up!  And should anyone ask, here are 5 good reasons to sleep naked!

  • Boost your anti-aging hormones.  Sleeping in an environment that is too warm can prevent the natural cooling that should take place in your body while you sleep.  Sleeping in a room that is over 70 will disrupt the release of your main anti-aging hormones.
  • Improve your body composition.  Wearing heavy clorthing to bed will impeade the release of growth hormone, which means you won't burn fat while you sleep or benefit from the night time repair of your bones, skin and muscles.
  • You will get a deeper sleep.  Research has shown that certain forms of insomnia are associated with faulty body temperature regulation and the inability to cool down at night.  Those who slept in cooler rooms woke up less during the night.
  • Between the hours of 10pm and 2am is the time when your body is truly resting and recuperating.  By 2am your adrenal glands (stress glands) begin to work to produce cortisol in preparation for the next day.  When you don't sleep well you wake up with cortisol at higher levels.  That makes you crave comfort foods which can pack on the pounds.
  • You will increase your levels of oxytocin.  All you need is skin to skin touching and that helps reduces blood pressure!
