A news story about Prince started us talking about his work with Sheena Easton which started us talking about Sugar Walls and how the song was considered very dirty at the time. My, times have changed! In 1985 The Parents Music Resource Center was formed with Tipper Gore leading the charge to clean up music. They came up with the "Filthy Fifteen" or the songs they found most objectionable. As a result stores pulled music from their shelves - including Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney and Sears.
Here is the original list. Compare that to some of the music that is out today!
- Prince - Darling Nikki
- Sheena Easton - Sugar Walls
- Judas Priest - Eat Me Alive
- Vanity - Strap on Robbie Baby
